The IRD are continuing to upgrade their online services and we would like to keep our clients in the loop so there’s no surprises. Listed below is a brief update on the changes that are coming up in April 2018.
Going online
From April 2018, you’ll also be able to file and amend returns online for Withholding Taxes for investment income, Gaming Machine Duty and Fringe Benefit Tax through myIR.
Client maintenance
Permissions and access to client information may change, depending on your myIR role. The IRD will be in touch again in the New Year with more information.
Legislation
Here is a summary of some upcoming and proposed legislative changes, which may impact how you send the IRD information:-
- The Accounting Income Method (AIM) is a new option for managing provisional tax through AIM – capable software which takes effect from April 2018. Click here for more information.
- The Government has proposed changing when you file employment information. The proposal is to file returns based on your pay cycle instead of the calendar month. The payment date won’t change. If the proposal comes into law, payday reporting of employment information will be voluntary from April 2018 and mandatory from April 2019.
myIR
When the changes go live you’ll notice that myIR will look a bit different. In the coming months, the IRD will show us what to expect.
Watch the space! We’ll do our best to keep you informed. If you have any questions at all, please call us on 09 636 3332.
