The IRD have recently sent out their December Tax update. Listed below is what you’ll find in this month’s newsletter.
- Taking a break over the holiday period? You can submit your January paydays in advance. Advanced filing is available from 11 December 2019.
- IRD hours over the holiday season – the 0800 phone line and front of house counters close from 2pm, 24th December and will reopen 8am, 6th
- Mandatory barcodes for customers over the counter at Westpac – you can choose to pay your taxes over the counter (OTC) at a Westpac branch /smartATM even if you don’t bank with Westpac. From 1st July all OTC payments at Westpac must be accompanied by a barcode identifying the customer, tax type and period. The IRD will be adding barcodes to notifications or you can generate our own barcode through the IRD.
- Moving away from Cheques – The IRD will stop accepting payments by cheque dated after 1 March 2020.
